Do you feel isolated while teaching?
yes/no?
We are exploring on how learning communities have changed with technology. The key components of my professional communities/communications are: e-mail, networks, face-to-face interactions, and social media.
The educational paradigm is one that can so individualized. Yet at the same time, teachers make up one of the largest networks in the US, and probably the world. The use of technology is so exciting in the fact that it has the ability to connect people in various ways; individuals and ideas can be celebrated and shared and learning truly never ends.
Yet, with all the digital applications It is easy to neglect the other “good stuff” that teaching offers. Interactions with staff/parents/administrators is now primarily through e-mail. I feel the only f2f meetings are if someone is really in trouble. Gone are days of regular hand shakes and hugs.
I might just ;) you instead. Is that ok?
I’m 50/50. I think there is a real benefit when technology is added, and does not replace the other “good stuff”.
What is and what should be, however, are two different things.
